While away from home in my first year of college, one of the ways that I kept abreast of my dad’s campaign for congress was through his Web site. It’s interesting for me to see who writes the endorsements shown on the site: former Army friends, farmers, doctors, aircraft workers who have lost their jobs, former employees, senators and teachers among them. Each of their endorsements speaks to the qualities of Mike Pompeo that would make him a great congressman, but they are also qualities that have made him an even greater dad.
Over the years, he’s improved my jump shot and my organizational skills. He taught me how to boogie board in the ocean and how to play MasterMind. He’s been a role model for leadership and hard work. He’s demanded honesty out of me and shown me how important it is to be a man of God in all I do.
This Sunday, fathers will be recognized for everything they do for our families. Their dedication and unconditional love are blessings in our lives. With much gratitude, I wish my dad and all dads a Happy Father’s Day.
Nick Pompeo,
