After watching the recent Senate debate, it solidified my vote for Todd Tiahrt to be the next U.S. Senator for Kansas. This guy gets it. Tiahrt actually has solutions that would get government out of the way so businesses can create jobs— and he has a long list of bills and amendments that he has introduced in Congress to represent these solutions. Tiahrt’s passion to become energy independent and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, crack down on illegal immigration, and repeal Obamacare is exactly what we need from our next Senator. Tiahrt will take on the tough issues and not back down.
I can’t say the same for Jerry Moran, who has voted with Nancy Pelosi to raise our taxes and make it easier for illegal immigrants to get taxpayer-funded healthcare. Moran says he opposes these things, but that’s not what his voting record says. We can’t afford politicians who tell us what we want to hear in Kansas while voting the wrong way back in Washington.
Moran is co-initiator of a bill that opens trade and travel to Communist Cuba. The Communist Party in the U.S. is ecstatic and drumming support. Sure, trading with Cuba might bring some more sales for Kansas farmers, but at what cost? Should the world see Americans in Kansas as people who stand on principle and who stand for freedom, or should we be seen willing to sell out to oppressive tyrannical governments for profit? How about it, Kansas? It seems to me that Moran will step down from the stand for the sake of gaining his constituents’ votes. We can’t afford politicians who work for getting votes instead of working for what is right, either. Thankfully, I can count on Tiahrt to make right decisions.
