Thank you to the city, associates

We want to express our great appreciation to the City of El Dorado; City Manager Lewellyn; Mayor McKibban and City Commissioners;

Help on a holiday

In the heat of this past weekend, our home’s air conditioning system was not working.

Time for a change

Arizona is doing the right thing by enforcing the immigration laws already on the books. While illegal immigrants are here stealing our jobs, we are footing the bill for their medical services, food stamps, and their children’s education.

Celebrate freedom and heritage

If I see this political ad of a new famous “Republican Right to Life” candidate one more time it will be my strongest impulse in recent  years to get down from the wall my powder and ball musket and shoot a hole in the high def TV set.

Memories of a better time

My memories of Missouri: Being born on my Grandma’s little farm in ’42, no electricity, no indoor plumbing, no phones, while my dad was in the Army, was my start in life.

Honoring our fathers

While away from home in my first year of college, one of the ways that I kept abreast of my dad’s campaign for congress was through his Web site

Offering a POW/MIA scholarship

I would like to take this opportunity to give a brief description of the POW/MIA program of La Societe. The program of the 40 & 8 is a "POW/MIA Survivors Scholarship Fund."

Outrageous gov’t. actions

$400 million to a terrorist group! That's right. Our president gave $400 million to Hamas.

Prayer in military

God, America and our U.S. Military. In 1755 Samula Davies was our first preacher during the French-Indian War.

Too much spending by Brownback

The following two quotes were taken from The Wichita Eagle. 1. "Senator Sam Brownback's net worth was between 3 and 4 million dollars."

Change in society

When my father was in grade school in a working class school district in Pittsburgh, Penn., during the Great Depression, students nor parents paid for so much as piece of paper or  pencil.

Looking beyond endorsements

Endorsements are letters of recommendation that “we the people” are entitled to when an individual comes to us for a job, the job of representing us. As any serious employer, we should study these assessments and draw valid points about the individual’s character and past performance.

Too few candidates have served

Mike Pompeo is the only candidate in the 4th District Congressional race who has served our country in uniform and for me, that's reason enough to cast my vote in August and in November for Pompeo.

Upset with tax increase

As a Kansas taxpayer, I am very upset to hear that our governor, Mark Parkinson, is proposing a tax increase. Just one year ago, I recall that Mr. Parkinson threw away badly-needed taxpayer money by giving it to Planned Parenthood, when both the House and the Senate had voted to save that money for other urgent needs.

Thank you to SBA

I would like to thank the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital administration for allowing eighth grade parents and families to park in the empty lot across from the hospital for eighth grade promotion

United Way of the Plains, surveys in mail

Here at United Way of the Plains, we’re in the business of helping people. That means that we’re also in the business of finding out where it hurts. That is why we recently mailed out important surveys –Community Needs Assessments, we call them – to area residents in Butler Count
