Dear Editor
I am very proud to be an El Dorado Wildcat. I am proud to call El Dorado home. On May 26, the people of this community gave me more reason to proud.
El Dorado High School hosted the 4A State Golf Championship at Prairie Trails Country Club. We had 102 golfers from across the state come to El Dorado to compete. People traveled from Hugoton, Ulysses, Kansas City, Tonganoxie, Wellington, Independence and everywhere in between to play or the to watch golf.
I want to thank all the volunteers for all their hard work that made this day a huge success. Over 50 people gave up this day to help us out. People from ages 13 to 92 and from all different careers were on hand to assist. There are too many to mention individually, but all help was greatly appreciated. People that were unable to attend helped as well, as they allowed us to use personal golf carts and vehicles. This helped the tournament run smoothly.
A special thank you specifically to Shirley Patton and the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce for all of their time and effort. Shirley made information available for our out-of-town guests. Shirley worked with the Butler REC to supply rolls and juice for the coaches and workers hospitality breakfast.
Finally, I need to thank the people from Prairie Trails Golf & Country Club. Jason Reiswig, superintendent, and his staff put in a lot of time to get the course ready for this event. The kitchen staff and Trails End’s staff were also very helpful in making our guests feel welcome. A huge THANK YOU to Ramon Criss and Ted Dankert for donating the meals for all the volunteers.
Not only did we have great help, we had great weather and great golf.
Proud to Be an El Dorado Wildcat
