Editor,
The Declaration of Independence, you know...Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. George Clymer was a signer; also of The Constitution. Elizabeth Hoisington Clymer, was our first woman general in our U.S. Army.
Rolla A. Clymer, publisher of the El Dorado Times for more than 60 years. R.A.'s editorial are still among El Dorado's greatest treasures. R.A. was enamored with the beauty of the Flint Hills and each Christmas he would write about the hills and in his inimitable fashion tie it to the first Christmas in Bethlehem when the three wise men followed the star to see and worship this baby Jesus in a manger... God's gift to us more than 2,000 years ago, our savior!
And now it's time to vote. All I hear our politicians talking about how great they are, what they have done, what they are gonna do. What about the ideals and principles our great nation was founded upon? What about giving honor and praise to a mighty God who our founding fathers cried out to and sought his guidance and blessing for America?
To serve and protect – of the people, by the people, for the people. The way I see it, our politicians and judges should hang their heads in shame and seek God's forgiveness and wisdom to be good leaders. Why has it been legal to allow the murder of 50 million of God's unborn children? Why do I get disgusted when I hear our Kansas lottery consortium brag on how great each new game is? Yeah, I'm gonna vote. Where are our true Kansas leaders? Where? Who?
