The Remington Broncos scored 23 points in the final quarter to rally for a 61-56 victory over Southeast of Saline in a Class 3A Sterling first round contest at Allen Gymnasium.
Matt Jacobs scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half, while Jake Green scored 10 of his 17 after intermission as the fourth seeded Broncos (12-9) were able to stop the upset bid of the Trojans (9-12).
Caleb Cherryholmes also was a factor for Remington in the second half, hitting four three-pointers and 13 points after intermission.
The Broncos were outscored 24-7 after the firsts quarter and trailed by 16 at halftime. Remington pushed the deficit down to 46-38 after three on the way to recording the win.
Remington will face top-seeded Halstead in a semifinal contest at Sterling on Thursday. Halstead beat Hillsboro 66-38.

ELBING — The Warriors didn’t allow a field goal in the first quarter on the way to the easy victory over the Falcons in a Class 2A Oxford first round game.
Berean, the top seed in the substate, led 15-0 after the first quarter and allowed only five field goals in the victory.
Lonnie Penner led Berean (19-1) with 14 points, while Josiah Busenitz added 13. Ten players scored in the victory for the Warriors.
Berean Academy will face the winner of the Burden Central-Inman first round game Friday at Oxford.

WICHITA — The Spartans outscored Bluestem 24-9 in the opening quarter and never pulled off the throttle until the fourth quarter, leading 77-21 by the end of the third.
Trace Clark led Collegiate (20-1) with 20 points, while Tre Bailey added 14, Brett LeMaster 13 and Doug Burton 12.
Alex Muckenthaler led Bluestem in scoring with nine points.

ELBING — The Lady Warriors allowed seven field goals on the way to the rout of the Lady Falcons in a Class 2A Oxford first round game.
The Lady Warriors (18-3) outscored Fairfield 21-5 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 38-10 by the end of the first half.
Janelle Rust scored 15 of her team high 23 points in the first half, while Kristin Khosravipour added 12 in the victory.
The top-seeded Lady Warriors will face Inman in a semifinal game at Oxford. Inman beat Oxford 60-33 in another first round game.
Fairfield ends its season with a 3-18 record.
