The Berean Academy Lady Warriors withstood a furious finish to record a 57-55 victory over the Moundridge Lady Wildcats in the Heart of America League showdown.
Moundridge hit only one free throw in the opening quarter to trail the Lady Warriors 11-1 after eight minutes of play, but came back with 20 points in the second stanza to cut the deficit to 22-21 at halftime.
Janelle Rust scored 15 of her team-high 23 points in the final quarter for Berean (14-2, 8-1) to hold off the challenge by the Lady Wildcats. Mallory Zuercher scored 10 of her 18 points after intermission to help the Lady Warriors record the win.
Spencer Suderman led Moundridge (10-5, 5-2) in scoring with 27 points, while Jessie Vogts added 12 points in the road setback.

Ell-Saline 36
WHITEWATER – The Lady Broncos outscored Ell-Saline 11-6 in the final quarter to control their Heart of America League and Winter Homecoming game.
Katie Regier led Remington (12-3, 4-2) in scoring with 13 pionts, while Jessie Green added nine in the victory. Mariah Jones (9-6, 4-2) led Ell-Saline with 14 points, but no other Lady Cardinal scored more than six.

ANTHONY – The Lady Roadrunners outscored Bluestem in the first three quarter on the way to the win in their Central Plains League matchup.
Chaparral (2-11, 1-5) led 25-18 at halftime and pushed the lead up to double digits by the end of the third stanza.
Heather Cox led the Lady Roadrunners with 16 points, while Heather Ross added 13 in the win.
Demi Metcalf and Laramie Bird scored eight points apiece to lead Bluestem (8-7, 2-2).

ELBING – The Warriors overcame a six-point halftime deficit to record the Heart of America League win in a see-saw battle over the Wildcats.
Berean led by four after the opening quarter, but made only two field goals in the second to trail the Wildcats 20-14 at halftime. The Warriors (13-1, 7-0) didn’t allow a Moundridge field goal in a 14-3 third quarter, then held off the late Wildcats challenge for the win.
Lonnie Penner led Berean in scoring with 11 points (nine in the second half), while Caleb Hoover scored all 10 of his points after intermission.
Trye Unruh led Moundridge (12-4, 4-2) with 19 points.

WHITEWATER – The Broncos didn’t allow a field goal in the first quarter on the way to making their Winter Homecoming celebration a success with a victory over the Cardinals in Heart of America League action at Allen Gymnasium.
The Broncos led 15-4 after the opening quarter and extended the lead to 31-15 by halftime on the way to the victory.
Jake Green led Remington (8-6, 3-3) in scoring with 15 points, while Caleb Cherryholmes added 13 (nine on three three-pointers in the second quarter) and Matt Jacobs 12 in the victory.
Ell-Saline fell to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in the league.

Bluestem 45
ANTHONY – The Roadrunners outscored the Lions 21-6 in the second quarter on the way to claiming the Central Plains League matchup.
Bluestem cut the lead down to eight after three quarters of action before Chaparral (7-8, 4-4) outscored the Lions 22-10 in the final quarter to cement the league victory.
Dustin Semisch led the Lions (1-14, 0-9) and Tyler Leed added 10 in the losing effort.
Jeff Cather led Chaparral with 22 points, while Scotty McCartney added 16 and J.D. Keim 14 in the victory.
