The El Dorado Wildcats boys bowling team scored their most pins on the season in their regional tournament at Emporia’s Flint Hills Lanes, but finished fourth and didn’t qualify for the state meet.
Two Wildcats qualified as individuals for Thursday’s state meet at Wichita’s Northrock Lanes include Chase Holton, who finished seventh with a 707, and Alex Wygle (eighth, 692).
The Wildcats scored 2,605 as a team, 203 pins behind regional champion Topeka Seaman. Host Emporia was the second team to qualify for the state meet with 2,738.
The El Dorado girls finished fifth in their meet with a 2,009. Shawnee Heights won with 2,489 and Topeka West second at 2,421.
Neither Circle bowling team qualified for the state meet from the regional at Wichita’s Seneca Bowl Lanes, but had one bowler qualify as an individual, Nicole Gulick, who finished sixth with a 587.
The Circle boys finished fifth as a team with a 2,309. Bishop Carroll won the regional with a 2,586 and Augusta was second at 2,491.
The Circle girls finished sixth in their regional with a 1,873 score. Bishop Carroll won the girls title with 2,381 and Kapaun-Mt. Carnel was second at 2,103. Chario Carter of Augusta won the individual title with a 652 series.
