Kyle Tiernan (Murray State) tripled and scored the first run for the El Dorado Broncos, then drove in the winning run as El Dorado struck for two runs in the ninth to edge Valley Center 3-2.

Cameron Welch (Kansas State) walked against his younger brother, Brandon (Newman), to start the ninth, and Wes Cunningham (Murray State) also walked to put runners at first and second.

After Kirk Walker (Oklahoma City) sacrificed them to second and third, Dorain Williams (Butler CC-Saint Louis) hit a RBI groundout, and Tiernan's single sent Cunningham home with what-proved-to-be the game-winner.

Travis Whipple (Louisiana-Lafayette) singled to drive in Tiernan in the third.

Andrew Steinmetz (Scottsdale CC) went the first six innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. Cobey Guy (Wichita State) picked up the victory, going two innings and allowing one hit. Nick Ward (Butler CC) earned his sixth save, pitching the ninth. He struck out Mace Krol (Hutchinson CC) with runners on first and second to end the game.

Jeff Hutton (Newman) hit a homer for the Dawgs in the sixth. Joe Grinstead (Union-Ky.) followed with a double and scored on a single by Darren Boss (Butler CC).

The Broncos (15-6, 11-6 Jayhawk League) will battle Derby (10-7, 8-5) tonight at McDonald Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
