The Butler Grizzlies were picked by the coaches as the preseason favorite to return as Jayhawk Conference champions, a selection that surprised Grizzlies head coach Troy Morrell.

“We definitely have to rely on a number of freshmen,” Morrell said. “We (the coaches) just have to ask ourselves to do a little more.”

Fort Scott, the defending league and regional champion, was predicted to finish second, followed by Coffeyville, Hutchinson, Garden City, Highland, Dodge City and Independence.

A full story will be in Monday’s edition of the El Dorado Times.
