Wildcat golfers fourth at league meet

Wichita, Kan. - The El Dorado High School boys’ golf team finished fourth at the AVCTL Division III Meet at the Tex Consolver course at Pawnee Prairie in west Wichita Tuesday.
The Wildcats finished with a team score of 343 strokes, placing behind Augusta (308), Buhler (314) and Andover (314). Rounding out the field were Rose Hill (358) and Mulvane (376).
El Dorado’s Cale Demel was a league medalist, placing sixth by shooting a 76. Augusta, Buhler and Andover each had three league medalists. Augusta freshman Trey Hayden won low-medalist honors by firing a 73.
On the same course Tuesday, the Circle High School boys’ golf team finished fourth at the AVCTL Division VI Meet with a team score of 360. Andover Central won the league team title with a score of 300, followed by Andale (313) and Wellington (323). Rounding out the field were Kingman (385) and Clearwater (417). Andover Central had five league medalists while Andale had three and Wellington had two.
The Class 4A Regional Meet will take place Monday at El Dorado’s Prairie Trails Golf and Country Club, starting at 9 a.m. The top two teams and top five individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to the 4A State Meet May 19.
