The Circle High School boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 37-34 win at Wellington Friday night, moving the T-Birds to 3-0 in AVCTL Division IV and 6-0 overall.
Circle outscored Wellington 15-5 in the fourth quarter, including six points by Jordan Phillips, who finished with eight to lead the T-Birds.
The Circle girls picked up their first league win at Wellington, winning 47-38 to move to 1-2 in the league and 4-2 overall. Kyrstie Ehm led Circle in scoring with a game-high 18 points. Circle hosts Kingman Tuesday night.
The Bluestem girls evened their record at 4-4 with a 60-50 win at Wichita Trinity. Bluestem outscored Trinity in the third quarter, 26-7. Demi Metcalf led the Lady Lions with 17 points, Rachel Servis had 11 and Jessica Cox added 10.
The Bluestem boys fell to 2-6 on the season after losing at Wichita Trinity, 68-28. Cory Hildreth led the Lions with 11 points. Bluestem will host Garden Plain Tuesday night.
The Remington girls slipped to 4-3 with a 66-59 home loss to Inman. Shelbie Beougher led Remington with 17 points while Katie Regier added 13. The Remington boys also lost to Inman, 52-48, despite a career-high 29 points from Jake Green. Remington plays at Sedgwick Tuesday night.
The Flinthills girls and boys both fell to 0-6 after losing to Burlingame. The Mustang boys lost, 64-48. The Mustangs got 20 points from Garrett Breech and 14 from Preston Hefton. The Lady Mustangs lost by a final count of 56-26. Hope Harsh led Flinthills with 11 points. The Mustangs play at Olpe Tuesday night.
The Berean Academy boys and girls turned in a sweep at Ell-Saline. The Warrior boys drubbed the host Cardinals, 45-16. Ten different players scored for Berean, led by Thad Holmes with 10 points. The Berean girls improved to 6-2 with a 61-45 win. Berean got 19 points from Janelle Rust and 11 from Kayla Eilert. Berean will play at Inman Tuesday night.
