El Dorado, Kan. -

The El Dorado Broncos set a franchise first with three straight home runs Tuesday against Dodge City.

The Broncos traveled to Dodge City for the first of three games on the road, and came away with a 10-5 win, breaking a four-game losing streak.

“We hit the ball well,” said J.D. Schneider, Broncos owner and coach. “We didn’t get a few bunts town, but I’m pleased we hit well.”

By the top of the fifth inning, the Broncos were leading 4-1. Matt Davis and Heath Wall each struck out. But then Matt Koch came up to the plate and hit a homer to left, followed by a home run by Preston Springer to right and Tanner Rindels home run to right center.

Davis added a homer in the ninth, meaning every Bronco batter got at least one hit.
In addition to the home runs, Koch had four hits, including a triple for the cycle.

Springer also hit a triple.

But the oddest play of the night came in the eighth. The Broncos had the bases loaded and none out. Jaime Armendariz hit a ground ball to short. The umpire ruled Rindels interfered and Dodge City was also given two more outs on a regular double play, meaning Dodge City got a triple play.

Despite the win, the Broncos’ entry into the NBC World Series is in doubt. The NBC would not accept the Broncos into the Midwest Regional, saying the bracket was full.
