The El Dorado Broncos beat the Derby Twins 8-3 on the road Wednesday.

The game remained scoreless between the two teams until the third inning, when Derby's  Kellen Lee scored the first run.

But the Broncos came back in the fourth inning to score three runs of their own.

Sam Bates was the first at bat in the top of the fourth, advancing to first base.

Matt Giller also got a base hit, sending Bates on to second.

Next up to bat was Tyler Smith who got a hit to leave the bases loaded for El Dorado.

Blair DeBord was the next to step up to bat and with two balls and two strikes, got a hit that brought Bates and Giller home for two of the three runs.

Rounding out the fourth inning were batters Robbie Rea, Brian Fisher and Elliot Frey. Smith earned the final run of the inning for the Broncos when Fisher was at bat.

Only getting one runner, Zachary Noonan, on base in the top of the fifth, the Broncos were unable to
increase their lead further, but they also kept the Twins from scoring in the bottom of the fifth, allowing only one hit.

The sixth inning brought another run for the Broncos as  Matt Giller earned a run on a hit by Rea, bringing the score to 4-2.

Although getting one hit in the seventh, the Broncos were unable to score any more runs before the Twins went to the plate in the bottom of that inning, scoring one run.

In the eighth, El Dorado added two more runs to their lead. Brian Fisher and Rea earned runs for the Broncos.

The Twins were unable to earn any runs in the bottom of the eighth going into the final inning 6-2.

The final inning brought two more runs for El Dorado. Noonan scored the first run of the inning while Sam Bates was at bat. Then Bates made it home on a double by Matt Giller.

The Twins couldn’t fight their way back in the bottom of the ninth, scoring only one run.

The winning pitcher for the Broncos was Conner Sinclair

The Broncos are off tonight, but will be back in action against Hays over the weekend. They will play at Hays Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Then Monday they will take on the Derby Twins again at home, with the game starting at 7:05 p.m. This also is fifty cent hot dog night.

One make-up game also has been scheduled due to rainouts earlier in the season.

El Dorado will play at Dodge City July 30 to make up the games rained out on June 12 and 13.

They have yet to schedule the games rained out against Haysville on June 14 and July 5.
