USD 490 discusses issues for ’08-’09

USD 490 Board of Education members met July 14 to discuss approval of purchase card requests for the 2008-09 academic year, acknowledge transfers and resignation of staff and faculty and announce dates for upcoming meetings and events.

It was recommended that David Wagner be issued a purchase card.

This card would have a $1,500 transaction limit and a $5,000 monthly limit.

In addition to Wagner's card, each building principal would be issued a purchase card with a $1,000 monthly limit.

"This is not additional budget authority," said Superintendent Sue Givens.

Members of USD 490’s Board of Education also approved some additional BCSBC recommendations at their July meeting.

Laura Kenneson, para-educator at Rose Hill High School, will be replacing Shawn Vernia effective Aug. 11.

Additional faculty and staff replacements include Helen Korerner who will be replacing Carol Ritter as the para-educator at Grandview and Parvin Sarrafiadeh will be replacing Claretta Wilkins as the para-educator at Andover Central.

Transfers for staff and faculty will include Robyn Jackson and Samantha Tran.

Tran will be transferring from Cottonwood to Andover High School.

Some resignations were also on the agenda for the board’s July meeting.

Angela Drouillard, para-educator at Ewalt Elementary, will be resigning, as well as, Terry Mallatt, from Towanda Primary; Stephanie Moore from Andover Middle School; and Rebecca Romes, para-educator for Circle Middle School.

Kelly Seymour, para for Bluestem Middle School, will be resigning as well.

Also Natasha Shaum and Ashley Swanson from Andover will resign.

Constance Zuiss para-educator at Rose Hill Primary is also resigning.

Additionally the board made announcements for upcoming events.

On July 30, building secretaries and administrators will report back to work.

Enrollment at all buildings is set to begin on July 31 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Aug. 4 is set for the new teachers orientation meetings and the first contract day for teachers will be Aug. 6.

The back to school all staff breakfast and meeting is planned for Aug. 6.

Staff will be meeting at the Civic Center.
