El Dorado City Commissioner Nick Badwey asked if the commissioners had any interest in looking at Sunday liquor sales, since surrounding communities have it during their meeting Monday evening.

The commission asked City Manager Herb Llewellyn to bring them some information on the topic for a future agenda item.

Llewellyn also told them the state of Kansas is considering changing sales to allow convenience stores and grocery stores to sell wine, liquor and 6 percent beer.

“There’s a lot of people that would like it to pass and I think there’s probably a lot of people who don’t want it to pass,” he said.

Mayor Tom McKibban also asked about a concern he had heard that bars can’t be open on Sundays but restaurants can sell liquor by the drink on Sundays.

Llewellyn said he would have to look at what license they had and how it was regulated.
